Declaration on the digital accessibility of the new ticket app
Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) is constantly working to make the BVG Ticket App accessible to everyone. There have been, and will continue to be, ongoing consultations with various organisations to further improve the app.
This digital accessibility statement applies to the iOS version of the BVG Ticket App. The BVG Ticket App is also available for Android. Both versions are largely accessible, although there are still some shortcomings.
The respective devices (iPhone and iPad) offer users a wide range of accessibility features and settings in the system preferences (Android and iOS) that can be used to operate the apps.
When was this accessibility statement created?
This statement was created in December 2024.
How accessible is the service?
This application for iPhone is only partially accessible. It only partially meets the requirements of BITV 2.0. However, work is ongoing to meet these requirements.
Which areas are not accessible?
The following areas are not accessible for the reasons given:
- Login Required: A login is required to access purchased tickets. If login credentials are incorrect or incomplete, an error message is displayed, but it does not specify which form field needs to be corrected. Additionally, during registration, it is not clearly indicated which fields are mandatory.
- "Forgot Password" Function: The link in the login section leads to the respective form. However, if the form is submitted empty, a misleading error message appears, incorrectly requesting a username instead.
- Eye Icon in Password Field: The eye icon, which allows passwords to be made visible, is not accessible or operable via keyboard, limiting accessibility.
- Keyboard Navigation: There are issues with navigating the app using an external keyboard during the registration process.
- Optimization of On-Screen Keyboard: On the login and registration pages, the on-screen keyboard does not adjust to the requirements of the email input field. The "@" symbol and the period are only accessible via the symbol keyboard, making input more cumbersome.
- Accessibility of Language Selection: The language selection options are not correctly announced by the screen reader during the login process.
- Error Indication for Card Input: Errors in card information input are indicated exclusively through color changes. There are no alternative visual or auditory cues for accessible use.
- Support for Landscape Mode: Landscape mode is not supported.
- Pulsating Heart Animation: A continuous, non-disableable pulsating heart animation appears in several places, which can distract or irritate users.
