- not valid on long-distance trains like IC, EC and ICE

- valid from the last calendar day of the previous month at 0 a.m. until the first calendar day of the following month at midnight

- Children under 6 years
- In the VBB-network area also one dog (no nationwide dog transport, supplementary regulations according to the local regulations of the associations are permissible)
- Hand luggage, baby carriages, wheelchairs for the sick and other orthopedic aids such as rollators
